Over the past year, the supply chain logistics industry has continued to experience remarkable growth in automation adoption, even with the recent economic challenges. This advancement of automation can be credited to the accessibility of current unit economics for new technologies and the value automation delivers for many companies. Additionally, it is important to note that with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and other innovative software solutions, analytics are becoming more insightful–and abundant–than ever before. With the increasing need for data management, mounting demand for labor, and the growth of automation adoption across industries, we can expect digitalization to continue to expand into 2024. A shift toward digital According to the Association for Advancing Automation, robotic hardware sales gradually decreased in 2023, indicating a shift towards digital and software solutions to support the continued push for widespread digitalization. With this digital shift comes an influx of data full of valuable information that can be leveraged to improve operations. However, it also requires proper data management and transparency across different systems to properly utilize the flood of information. Data transparency will be key to supporting the digital transformation of a company–but what exactly is data transparency? It is the use of trustworthy, real data that can be easily traced back to the source, allowing companies to know what data is being collected and how it can be leveraged. This is where cloud-based technologies and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions come into play, providing the support needed to expand and manage the digital footprint of a company. While IoT systems and sensors can collect data, an AI-enabled model or software-based technology can analyze the data and share insights with system operators for further action. As a result, industries will see more data transparency efforts within non-tracked operations that will allow companies to tap into creative solutions to automate their warehouses. Along with data transparency, the proliferation of cloud-based, IoT, and sensor technologies that can be implemented and adopted much faster in the marketplace, will continue to grow. Fueled by the decreased production cost and increased capability of these solutions, the market will continue to see demand rise and adoption rates increase over the next few years. IT requires a personal touch Contrary to popular belief, an increase in automation doesn’t necessarily lead to a decrease in jobs. Deploying software solutions requires the support of IT professionals to integrate, manage, and maintain new technologies. As a result, the demand for a specialized labor force will rise along with the rate of digitalization. Implementing new software within an established system isn’t easy and adds to the already long list of responsibilities for IT professionals. Addressing cybersecurity con...
Calibrate Meggitt 6240M and Bently Nevada 86517 Instrumentation In this video we demonstrate how to test the linearity of the GE LM2500 gas turbine vibration monitoring and protection system at critical low and high pressure rotor speeds. We also separate the Meggitt 6240M series accelerometer from the Bently Nevada 86517 Acceleration Interface Module and perform a frequency response sweep calibration. The Meggitt 6240M series, Vibro-Meter CA303 and CA306 series transducers are differential charge accelerometers that interface directly to The Modal Shop’s C9110D or 9110F Portable Vibration Calibrators. The Bently Nevada 86517 Acceleration Interface Module typically serves to integrate the signal from the differential charge accelerometers and convert to a readable voltage output within the turbine monitoring system. Although this device can also be used in non-integrated acceleration output mode as well. Either way, the output of the 86517 is easily tested with The Modal Shop's Portable Vibration Calibrators, allowing technicians to loop check the system and create a full calibration report. After market replacements for the Meggitt 6240M series and Vibro-Meter CA303 / CA306 are offered by PCB Piezotronics. The Modal Shop produced a webinar on our YouTube channel to further educate technicians on the pros and cons of PCB’s offering compared to alternatives. OT security specialist Nozomi Networks has identified three vulnerabilities on the Baker Hughes Bently Nevada 3500 rack model used to detect and prevent anomalies in rotating machinery such as turbines, compressors, motors, and generators. Nozomi warns that the most serious of the three vulnerabilities may allow an attacker to bypass the authentication process and obtain complete access to the device by delivering a malicious request. According to Nozomi, "the development of a patch is not planned due to legacy limitations." The initial discovery was made by reverse engineering the proprietary protocol used by the device, and Nozomi has confirmed that all of these vulnerabilities affect firmware versions up to 5.05 and later of the /22 TDI Module (both USB and serial versions). Nozomi suggests the following measures to mitigate the issues. 1. RUN mode vs CONFIG mode: PLCs and control systems often implement physical keys to either put the device in RUN mode or in CONFIG mode. The latter is typically used by technicians during maintenance activities to enable writing permission of new configurations on the device. One common misconfiguration that might occur is to either forget to put back the device into RUN mode after a maintenance activity or opt for a default always-on CONFIG mode to facilitate remote changes. A best practice is to make sure that devices are always kept in RUN mode whenever possible. 2. Network segmentation: Design and implement proper network segmentation strategies to prevent unauthorised parties from interacting with critical assets. This is especially recommended for legacy solutions that are no longer actively supported by vendors. 3. Strong and unique passwords: Make sure to guarantee uniqueness in conjunction with robustness when choosing credentials. The former property is often underestimated but could provide defence in those scenarios where credentials extracted from a vulnerable machine or component could be easily reused over fully patched systems sharing the same credentials. 4. Non-default enhanced security features: Check your device manual for security features that are not enabled by default. Often, these additional features could strongly reduce the likelihood or the impact of a specific vulnerability and mitigate 'hard-to-patch' situations. With respect to Bently Nevada devices, Nozomi Networks recommends customers review the various security levels made available through the configuration utility and choose the one that matches specific needs and security policy. Welcome to THANKSGIVING DAY Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated on various dates in the United States, Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Liberia, and unofficially in countries like Brazil and the Philippines. It is also observed in the Dutch town of Leiden and the Australian territory of Norfolk Island. It began as a day of giving thanks for the blessings of the harvest and of the preceding year (similarly named harvest festival holidays occur throughout the world during autumn, including in Germany and Japan). Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and around the same part of the year in other places. Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has long been celebrated as a secular holiday as well. Thanksgiving Food In many American families, Thanksgiving celebrations have lost their original religious significance; Instead, it now centers around cooking and sharing rich meals with family and friends. Türkiye is the staple food of Thanksgiving Day. It is ubiquitous and has almost become the synonym of this festival. When the Pilgrims held their inaugural banquet in 1621, Türkiye may or may not have. However, according to the data of the National Federation of Türkiye, today, nearly 90% of Americans eat this bird on Thanksgiving Day, whether it is roasted, roasted or fried. Other traditional foods include fillings, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Volunteer service is a common Thanksgiving activity, where communities often hold food events and offer free dinners for the unfortunate. 1% -10% discount on Thanksgiving BENTLY NEVADA HONEYWELL HITACHI 330101-00-63-10-02-00 51305072-200 LYA010A 330103-00-08-05-02-00 51305072-300 LYA210A 330130-00-05-05-02-00 51306673-200 LYD000A 330103-00-07-10-02-00 51401477-100 LYD105A 330103-07-18-10-02-00 51304903-200 LCE250B 330101-00-28-05-02-00 51304907-200 LUD700A 330103-00-06-05-02-00 51309206-125 LPD200A 330106-05-30-15-02-00 51400646-100 LPD250B 330101-00-56-10-02-00 51401496-100 LPD350A 330103-00-03-10-02-00 51304672-150 LPP100A 330104-03-06-05-02-00 51309228-300 LPU100A 330104-05-15-05-02-00 51401632-100 LYA220A 330101-00-60-10-02-00 51402592-100 LPA245A Sales manager: Yuki Email : sales6@askplc.com | Skype : +86 17359287459 (Whatsapp)
