In redundant mode (two RPS6U units), both power supplies are active and share the load. The ABE04x backplane uses OR-ing diodes on the power rails, allowing both to contribute to the total current. If one supply fails or is switched off, the OR-ing topology automatically isolates it, and the remaining supply provides 100% of the power with no manual intervention or control signal. There is no master/slave — the redundancy is passive and hardware-based, ensuring microsecond failover.
Q: Can the VM600 RPS6U power supplies be hot-swapped without powering down the entire ABE04x rack?	No. The VM600 RPS6U series does not support hot-swap. The rack must be fully powered off before inserting or removing a power supply. This is because the high-current DC connectors are not rated for live disconnection under load, and the backplane lacks inrush current limiting for hot-plug.
